UMBRIA (WITH ASSISI) TOUR IN FALL DESCRIPTION

Vineyards stretch for miles in hues of yellow, orange and red. This is Umbria during the harvest time and it’s full of mystery and allure. Sometimes described as “the new Tuscany”, Umbria is an ancient region found between Rome and Florence that has a rustic charm of its own. The people of Umbria are proud and passionate, and ensure their local traditions and rituals endure for centuries.

At the heart of our journey lies Assisi, the sacred home of St. Francis. We stay in an awe-inspiring setting nestled beneath the shadow of the majestic Basilica. More than just its famous basilica, Assisi holds untold treasures – quiet, contemplative sites connected to the saint that remain blissfully untouched by the crowds. We explore these lesser-known corners of Assisi on a deeply meaningful and exclusive path that most visitors never experience.

Along the way we’ll visit family vineyards, some of the prettiest towns in Italy, Spello and Perugia (the home of Italian chocolate). Our Umbria with Assisi tour features gastronomic experiences including making pasta, and long lunches with matching local wines, all in the company of fellow food and wine loving travelers with a passion for Italian culture.

The unexpected can occur and becoming ill or injured in a foreign country is a very daunting experience, therefore we require guests take insurance with international evacuation coverage for all trips.

Please consider cancelation insurance also because refunds are made available only per our terms and conditions, and we are unable to make exceptions for any reason, including weather, injury/illness, or personal emergencies.
You should book a policy as soon as the trip has been confirmed. Some companies to consider:
  • World Nomads – simple and flexible travel insurance for independent travelers. Includes 24×7 assistance when abroad
  • Safety Wing Nomad Insurance – designed to meet the unexpected medical and travel needs faced by people traveling outside of their home country
  • Travelex (USA residents only) – comprehensive travel insurance options covering medical assistance and delays

Unfortunately these providers may not offer policies for those aged over 69. In this case you can try Travel Insurance Master – a service that allows you to compare quotes and insurance policies.

Discover Umbria

Hidden in plain sight to the north of Rome and south of Florence, Umbria is sometimes referred to as the “new Tuscany” but this region has plenty of charm in its own right and a proud and unique culture, largely untouched by waves of conquests and immigration that influenced other Italian regions.
