Join our Fall tour of Piedmont and enjoy a gourmet odyssey through the northern Italian region best known for premium wine and truffles. Our Fall Piedmont itinerary is a fun and immersive trip of discovery exploring the region’s iconic tastes and hidden secrets.

Begin in elegant Turin, Italy’s first capital, where grand boulevards and historic cafés set the stage for our opening days. Enjoy a special night at the magnificent Teatro Regio, and step into royal history with a visit to the splendid Reggia di Venaria palace.

Travel south to Cuneo, where stories of courage come alive on a moving WWII walking tour, and hear the stories of many brave women partisans.

Then we continue to the Barolo region to drink the wine and explore Piemontese cuisine. We visit wineries, picturesque towns and markets and enjoy Piemonte’s best gastronomic experiences. Of course, not to be missed is the famous Alba White Truffle Festival, one of the most important food festivals in the world.

The grape harvest is also underway and it’s an important time for the Barolo and Barbaresco wine makers of the region. So why not join us as we taste and sip our way through beautiful Piedmont, enjoying the romantic sights along the way.

DAY 1-3 Welcome to Turin

Explore elegant Turin, the first capital of Italy and home to the Royal family of Savoy who originated from France. Visit the magnificent Reggia di Venaria palace, sample local Torinese ‘gianduiotti’ chocolates and the famous bicerin. Hear the stories and legends of Piedmont from Royal scandals to the Shroud of Turin over vermouth, and tramezzini, before enjoying an unforgettable opera or ballet performance. In Cuneo, uncover the inspiring stories of the women partisans who fought during WWII.

DAY 4-6 Truffles, Barolo Wine and Cheese

Embark on a walk you’ll never forget with our local truffle hunter and his trusty dog in search of white truffles. Go cheese tasting at a 100-year-old cheesemonger. Raise a glass to the King of Wines at our Barolo wine tasting and learn everything there is to know about truffles at an important local festival. Celebrate the local cuisine in the kitchen of our friend and chef who teaches us how to make the perfect agnolotti or tajarin pasta.

DAY 7 A Castle in the Vines

Gaze in wonder at an 11th-century fairytale castle, nestled amongst the vines. Go for one last passeggiata through the vineyards as we taste the Queen of Wines – Barbaresco – at a family-run winery.

Our Piedmont in Fall tour departs from the beautiful city of Turin after lunchtime in the lobby of our hotel.

Our Piedmont in Fall tour ends back in Turin around 5pm at the Turin Porta Nuova Centrale train station.

Turin can be reached by high speed train in just over 1 hour from Milan, 3 hours from Florence, or just over 4 hours from Rome. If you prefer to travel by plane, the city has a small international airport that services Italian and European destinations.

Please let us know well in advance if you have any dietary needs, including allergies. It is quite a meat and dairy heavy cuisine so it can be a little difficult for vegetarians and not advisable for vegans. We have had celiacs join us on this tour before and can accommodate gluten intolerance. We’re happy to work with tour accommodation and restaurants to ensure that you have suitable meal options.

You are more than welcome to join! Do keep in mind that wine is a big focus of this tour as Piedmont is arguably Italy’s best wine region. We visit two wineries and participate in guided wine tastings at both.

Absolutely! We always welcome solo travelers in our groups and generally have at least a couple of solo guests join.

Light to moderate physical activity levels are required on this tour as our guided walks range from 1-2 hours at a time. Please get in touch if you have concerns.
