Discover what makes Tuscany such a well-loved destination as we bring you on an immersive trip into its very heart and soul.

Our exclusive week-long experience offers you a VIP pass to discover Tuscany like a local. We visit some of the popular bucket list destinations (in our signature “untold” way) but also discover authentic, off-the-beaten towns you’ve never heard of. You’ll meet the makers of Tuscany’s most famous products, Chianti wine and Tuscan olive oil, the artisans honouring time old traditions, and the local people as they go about their day.

Fall is a wonderful time to visit Tuscany. Leaves change color, the wine harvest draws to a close, and the fields are awash with olive pickers – it is when the delicious new season olive oil is produced. It’s the time of year when truffles are in season and sagre (food festivals) are in full swing, and evenings get a little chillier – the perfect conditions for enjoying the region’s delectable cuisine.

DAY 1-2 Welcome to Tuscany

Start discovering what Tuscany is all about with a visit to a swoon-worthy Chianti winery and then a wonderful family-owned cheese farm. Explore a lively market village and then roll up your sleeves as we learn to make pizza.

Places: Greve in Chianti, Chianti countryside

DAY 3-4 Tuscan Tastes and Traditions 

Visit an olive tree farm and learn about what extra virgin olive oil actually is before sitting back to taste the ‘liquid gold’. Raise a glass to Tuscany’s beauty at an intimate family-run winery for dinner. Learn how to make handmade pasta with a local chef at her family house in the Sienese countryside, before exploring ‘medieval Manhattan’.

DAY 5-7 Lovely Lucca and the Tuscan Coast

Fall in love with truffle-obsessed San Miniato and charming Lucca as we discover the fascinating stories behind her sturdy walls. We go back in time to explore Napolean’s sister’s villa and are treated to a local opera performance.

We go for a boat ride through the canals of coastal Livorno and glide past its famous grand palazzos, central market, and a Medici fortress before tasting the best produce at its 19th century market.

DAY 8 Truffles and Vin Santo

We embark on a unique truffle hunt in the forest with trained dogs and an experienced local truffle hunter, who will captivate us with the fascinating legends and curiosities that surround this precious gift of nature. Sit down to a truffle themed lunch and sample our host’s organic wines including holy vin santo for our final meal together.

Our Tuscany in Fall tour departs from the renaissance city of Florence at 10am from the Florence Santa Maria Novella train station.

Our Tuscany in Fall tour ends back at the Florence Santa Maria Novella train station around 4pm.

Florence can be reached by high speed train in an hour and 30 minutes from Rome, and under two hours from Milan. If you prefer to travel by plane, the city has a small international airport that services Italian and European destinations.

Please let us know well in advance if you have any dietary needs, including allergies. It is quite a meat and dairy heavy cuisine so it can be a little difficult for vegetarians and not advisable for vegans. We’re happy to work with tour accommodation and restaurants to ensure that you have suitable meal options.

Absolutely! We always welcome solo travelers in our groups and generally have at least a couple of solo guests join.

Light to moderate physical activity levels are required on this tour as our guided walks range from 1-2 hours at a time. Please get in touch if you have concerns.

Most guests find they spend money on souvenirs, a few snacks and additional services such as laundry and spa treatments. You have one free time lunch but our guests often find this a welcome relief from the sheer amount of food during the rest of the tour.
