Welcome to magical Tuscany. Together we explore the beautiful Chianti region and beyond with the gorgeous Tuscan towns of Lucca, San Miniato and Livorno. Our week long Spring in Tuscany adventure sees us meeting locals, sampling wine and exploring the hills and valleys of this much loved area of Italy. 

We’re going well off the beaten path to discover hidden villages, stunning vistas, Medici villas and local cheeses and even have time for a boat ride along Livorno’s canals. Appreciate that we’re taking it slow and making time to meet the locals – the makers, producers and artisans of Tuscany that make this region so very special. You’ll enjoy long tasty lunches and dinners under the Tuscan sun and go home with memories you’ll cherish forever.

DAY 1-2 Welcome to Tuscany

An introduction to classic Tuscany with a visit to a swoon-worthy Chianti winery and then a wonderful family-owned cheese farm. Explore a lively market village and then roll up your sleeves as we learn to make pizza.

Places: Greve in Chianti, Chianti countryside

Hotel: Querceto di Castellina (or similar)

DAY 3-4 Tuscan Tastes and Traditions 

Visit an iris and olive tree farm and learn about the importance of flowers throughout Tuscany’s history before sitting back to taste the ‘liquid gold’. Raise a glass to Tuscany’s beauty at an intimate family-run winery for dinner.

Learn how to make handmade pasta with a local chef at her family house in the Sienese countryside, before exploring ‘medieval Manhattan’.

DAY 5-7 Lovely Lucca and the Tuscan Coast

Fall in love with truffle-obsessed San Miniato and charming Lucca as we discover the fascinating stories behind her sturdy walls. We go back in time to explore Napolean’s sister’s villa and are treated to a local opera performance.

We go for a boat ride through the canals of coastal Livorno and glide past its famous grand palazzos, central market, and a Medici fortress before tasting the best produce at its 19th century market.

DAY 8 Holy Vin Santo

Our time in Tuscany wouldn’t be complete without one last winery visit. Learn about the holy dessert wine known as ‘vin santo’ and take in the views of the beautiful vineyards with a spectacular wine tasting and final Tuscan feast.

Our Tuscany in Spring tour departs in the morning from the Renaissance city of Florence from the Florence Santa Maria Novella train station.

Our Tuscany in Spring tour ends back at the Florence Santa Maria Novella train station in the late afternoon. 

Florence can be reached by high speed train in an hour and 30 minutes from Rome, and under two hours from Milan. If you prefer to travel by plane, the city has a small international airport that services Italian and European destinations.

Please let us know well in advance if you have any dietary needs, including allergies. It is quite a meat and dairy heavy cuisine so it can be a little difficult for vegetarians and not advisable for vegans. We’re happy to work with tour accommodation and restaurants to ensure that you have suitable meal options.

Absolutely! We always welcome solo travelers in our groups and generally have at least a couple of solo guests join.

Light to moderate physical activity levels are required on this tour as our guided walks range from 1-2 hours at a time. Please get in touch if you have concerns.
